King Fahd Hospital organized a National Quality Improvement Day at its premises on Wednesday.
The event took place to spread awareness about quality improvement activities in the hospital.
The program was held under the supervision of Mohammed bin Hamza Khoshaim, deputy minister for planning and development at the Ministry of Health.
Taha A. Samman, assistant director for professional affairs at King Fahd hospital, inaugurated the event.
“It tells people that we are trying our best to improve the quality of the care we provide. We want them to know about the improvements in the performance of the health care at the hospital. We put a lot of effort into positively changing the quality of patient care.
Samman said the hospital made changes to prevent infection among patients, visitors and staff. Many things have already improved regarding patients’ safety, international patients’ safety goals, staff training, staff safety and the health program, as well as patients’ care.
Majdah Abdulhadi Shugdar, quality management director at King Fahd Hospital said that the National Quality Improvement Day would be celebrated in all the hospitals of the Kingdom.
“The main aim is to maintain proper documentation between nurses, doctors, social workers, dieticians and surgeons to ensure the patient's care and safety,” she said. She further said that it should be held for a day according to the regulation of the Ministry of Health, but King Fahd Hospital would celebrate it for two weeks so everyone would get proper information.
King Fahd Hospital is seeking international accreditation with an international Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO), a leading organization dealing with quality improvement. This will be another step forward for King Fahd Hospital to improve and develop its health service to citizens and residents at international standards.
