Naif Arab University for Security Sciences (NAUSS) and the secretariat general of the Arab Council of Social Ministers will jointly organize a scientific conference on the impact of terrorism on social development at the NAUSS premises on Saturday.
The three-day event will deal with a number of topics including the impact of terrorism on developmental achievements, the role of communal institutions in the fight against terror and the impact of terror-funding on development, head of media and PR of NAUSS Khalid Al-Harfash was quoted by the Saudi Press Agency as saying.
The seminar will also explore a series of successful examples on how to address terrorism which were adopted by some Arab countries as well as the NAUSS efforts in this context in light of the Arab strategy of combating terrorism, he said.
A number of work papers will be presented at the conference including the relationship between development and terrorism in the Arab World, cooperation between governmental and communal organizations in the fight against terrorism, activation of joint works among security, legal, social, and media organs to eliminate terrorism and dismantle its organizational structure.
Other work papers will deal with the role of international cooperation in terror fighting, enhancing the social aspect of security as a preventive measure to prevent engagement in terror organizations, strengthening the role of women in raising awareness and instilling positive ideas and national belonging in the hearts of children and youths.
The conference will also discuss experiences of anti-terror campaigns in Saudi Arabia, Algeria, Jordan, Egypt, Iraq and Lebanon.
President of NAUSS Abdulaziz bin Saqr Al-Ghamdi said NAUSS used to organize symposiums and conduct researches on issues of pressing security challenges facing the Arab world, notably the phenomenon of terrorism that arouses concerns at regional and international levels.
NAUSS has so far carried out 270 training courses and seminars related to terror issues, 22 symposiums, 19 studies, 50 periodicals, 70 masters and Ph.D. theses, 90 lectures and 70 contributions at Arab and global events, he pointed out.
