This is in reference to the letter “ Chavez will not be missed. I can just express my “sympathy” for the writer the way he described Chavez’s rule. Being a Canadian, we cannot expect anything else from the writer. He probably keeps his eyes closed and does not see the daily atrocities being committed on hapless Palestinians by the Israelis with the help of the US. Comrade Chavez always stood by the poor of his country.
He never bowed down before the US and its allies. He strongly believed that each drop of his country’s oil belongs to every citizen and all nationals enjoy the benefit of the same. He implemented true democracy in his country and he made the poor understand the importance of democracy. Chavez was against the US invasion of Iraq. He dubbed the US as a world police of Third World countries.
It is worth-mentioning that in one of his courageous speeches in the UN, he addressed George W. Bush as a devil and a warmonger. Chavez was always a threat for capitalism. I kindly request Paul try to see the reality of the world with open eyes. — Jaganath, Jeddah
