A momentous achievement in long and loyal service was celebrated by Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, when it recently recognized Markus Marti for completing 25 years’ service with the company.
“We deeply value the loyalty of Markus to Movenpick Hotels & Resorts,” said Andreas Mattmüller, chief operating officer, Middle East and Asia.
“Since starting his career in the food and beverage department, he has achieved tremendous success leading our teams in different parts of the world. A true veteran in the hospitality industry, he has contributed significantly in taking our two beautiful properties in Alkhobar to greater heights,” said Mattmüller.
Of Swiss descent and born into a family of hoteliers, Marti quickly chose to follow suit and established himself in the hospitality industry. His first international assignment was in Bermuda in 1986, where he worked in the Food and Beverage department.
He joined Movenpick Airport Hotel Zurich soon after and spent almost five years making steady progress in the Rooms and Front Office division, after which managerial appointments in Egypt and Saudi Arabia followed.
As part of his education, Marti graduated from the renowned Hotel Management School in Zurich and completed the Professional Development Programme at the prestigious Cornell University in Ithaca, New York.
Over the last 15 years Marti excelled as General Manager for several Movenpick properties in Egypt, Mauritius, Maldives and Qatar, before joining Movenpick Hotel Alkhobar and Movenpick Beach Resort Alkhobar in May 2011.
It is his sixth assignment as general manager with Movenpick Hotels & Resorts.
“I have tremendously enjoyed my time at Movenpick Hotels & Resorts, an organization I have had the privilege to serve and grow with,” said Marti.
“The company has offered me a wealth of opportunities and I am delighted to work again in the Kingdom at a historic time in the development of this great nation,” he added.
