Riyadh: Saudi Princess Ameera Al-Taweel topped the list of the most popular Saudi women on social networking site Twitter, after the number of her followers reached 662,170.
Saudi artist Rim Abdullah ranked second with 404,078 followers, and television presenter Lujain Omran came in third with 195,264 followers.
Ruqaya Al-Mohareb, rhetoric science’s instructor at Princess Noura University, came in fourth with 194,437 followers.
Owner of the account “Zhour” (flowers) came in fifth with 188,704 followers and writer Badria Al-Bishr came in sixth with 185,592 followers.
Princess Ameera also came in at number 19 among the most influential Saudi figures on Twitter.
The Kingdom has more than three million active Twitter users tweeting 50,000,000 tweets per month. Saudi twitter users recorded 3,000% growth from 2011 to 2012, which is much higher than the global average, according to a recent report by “The Social Clinic,” a Saudi-based social media agency.
