Long in the drawing board the first Ambassador Golf Cup finally got off the ground last week at the Dirab Golf & Country Club on the outskirts of Riyadh.
The four-ball Texas Scramble format competition attracted 32 players including diplomats and the ambassadors of the Myanmar and Indonesia embassies.
Mujib Minhas team won the event with a net score of 55 from a gross of 65 (34-31) and 10 handicap. Byung Nyun Kim, Ram Alsaihati and Susan Tessier are the other members of the winning team.
Second place went to the quartet of Mursidi Setia, Ralf Schiffer, Roedy Roetuin Ahmad and Budi Atmoko, who combined for a net of 57 from a gross of 68 (35-33) and 11 handicap.
Ebrahim Zailon of the Philippine Embassy in Riyadh led teammates Muhamed Fakhri Taib, Hasnan Serudin and Khasan Syukur to a third-place finish on 60 from a gross score of 71 and 11 handicap.
DGCC’s Shahid Rabbani nabbed the awards for men’s longest drive and closest to the pin while Tessier took the ladies longest drive accolade.
Dirab Golf & Country Club sponsored the tournament.
