Jeddah police have recovered the entire SR 1.28 million stolen last week by a gang of robbers from a well-known bookstore.
The perpetrators had confessed to the crime and were jailed.
The robbers wore gloves when they broke into the store and disabled the surveillance cameras.
Investigators became suspicious when they discovered that a 22-year-old employee, who turned out to be the gang leader and mastermind, asked for a transfer to another division a week before the robbery.
The first lead in the case came when the police found that one of the perpetrators, a 20-year old employee, deposited SR 850,000 in a bank account to be invested in bank stocks.
The two insiders were helped by a third person, a 21-year-old man. They took the safe, which had wheels, and put it in the car of the third person. They later forced open the safe, took out its contents and threw it into the sea.
The police found the safe and lifted fingerprints that matched those of the three perpetrators.
