On the morning of May 4, 2004, an armed group of men attacked employees working in a number of oil companies. In the the process they killed and wounded dozens of innocent people who were living in a residential compound.
Security forces came to the scene and attacked and pursued the group members. The police began collecting information, and was successful in locating the group in an apartment in Riyadh, thus putting an end to the bloodshed perpetrated by the terrorists.
These details, among others, are shown in pictures and video, in the fourth episode of the TV show “Our Concerns.”
The terrorists were intent on killing people indiscriminately without any regard to their religion or nationality. Upon interrogation, it was obvious to the investigators that the group members lacked any serious understanding of the hugely adverse impact and repercussions of their actions. Their shallowness and superficial understanding of the teachings of Islam were no less evident.
The documentary starts by showing an eyewitness recalling what happened on that fateful morning in Alkhobar.
“It was 7:30 a.m. I was standing by the gate. Suddenly a group of four uniformed armed men left the car, each handing the other a bag. They were carrying a tape recorder and listening to verses of the Qur’an. Suddenly they started kicking me, accusing me that I provide protection to the Americans, Christians and Jews,” he said.
He added: “Then they entered the compound, where there were people of many nationalities. They took everybody hostage.
They met a Filipino who told them that he had just converted to Islam and came to perform the Haj. But they shot him twice, and the second bullet went to his stomach. He was their first victim. Then they started killing other people.”
The show also aired footage showing the police interrogating group members.
“We stormed into two oil companies,” one group member said. “It was a successful operation, since we killed no Muslims, but we did throw many infidels into the street, and we killed many of them. We are willing to keep killing them until we are all dead.”
The guests at the show analyze the actions of the group, and they stress the fact that Islam represents the middle way, and sanctions no extremist views.
They also said that some of these people use their subversive thought to express a set of beliefs that is truly alien to Islam, a religion that allows no killing of innocents or bystanders, regardless of their religion.
