ENGLAND: The owner of a pizza takeaway in West Sussex has launched a challenge for customers to eat the ‘hottest pizza in the world.’ Paul Brayshaw, who owns Paul’s Pizza in Saltdean, near Brighton, has created the Saltdean Sizzler for customers to attempt to eat. The 10-inch pizza, which costs £ 10.99, contains the flaming ghost pepper, which is one of the fieriest in the world, as well as mozzarella, a herb sauce and a tomato base.
It can be ordered with or without pepperoni, without compromising on spice. Brayshaw explained: “I have always loved spicy food and that was what initially put the idea in my head. “I also like watching the TV show ‘Man vs Food,’ and that inspired me to add this to my menu. “The pizza starts off a nice red tomato color, but adding the sauce turns it into an evil black/red.” Christopher Barnard, 28, was one customer who accepted the challenge.
He said he wouldn’t “wish it on anyone.” He said: “The pain started before I had even bitten into it. As soon as it touched my lips they were on fire. “There was no pleasure. Just pain. It was unbearable. I was scared about swallowing it. The pain subsided after 20 minutes but then the relentless stomach-ache started.
