AVK Wild Boys win thrilling Group B 3rd place match in JBL

AVK Wild Boys of Jolly Tilo beat UDG 59-58 for third place in Group B division in the JBL Invitational Basketball Tournament at Bin Mahfouz court on Tahlia Street, Al Andalus District here.
With 5 seconds remaining in the final quarter and UDG ahead by 2 points, AVK went to Tilo for its last offense. Tilo unleashed a desperation three-point shot, the ball going in as the final buzzer sounded. Boyce scored 21 points for AVK Wild Boys but the Giordano best player of the game went to Tilo while Casingal and Lico each had 18 points for UDG.

Salam Brothers White of Ali Abdullah defeated Sabr Brothers Yellow 48-46 in the match for third place in the JDC Inter-color division. Salam Brothers white showed heart in the crucial seconds of the game. Sabr Brothers Yellow played hard even with only 7 players but missed their last offensive play as the final buzzer sounded. Dawood Antonio top-scored with 16 points for Salam Brothers White and was adjudged as the Saudi Signs best player of the game while Jameel Cobre had 24 points for Sabr Brothers Yellow.
Almabani of Vic Carreon beat Jeddah Eagles 50-38 to advance to a best-of-three championship series. Almabani’s tough defense defused the running game of Jeddah Eagles. Manalac scored 12 points for Almabani and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Shobain led Jeddah Eagles with 12 points.
Toyota Sequoia of Jimmy Abdullah Beltran defeated Awdah 78-53 in Game 1 of their championship series. Toyota Sequia caught Awdah in its off night. Awdah missed important baskets in the final quarter while Toyota Sequoia’s run-and-gun offense was unstoppable. Fadi Tawil and MJ dela Cruz each scored 12 points for Toyota Sequoia and were adjudged as the JBL best players of the game while Elmer Sanchez top-scored with 22 points for Awdah.
Thursday, Toyota Used Cars of Ronald Uranza beat Uptown 966 89-87 to take third place finished in Group A. Toyota Used Cars’ man-to-man defense in the fourth quarter had the ball handlers of Uptown 966 exhausted. Kevin Llamado had 28 points for Toyota Used Cars and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while Saldua scored 31 big points for Uptown 966.
Saudia Aviation of Andrew Masongsong defeated ALJ Central Purchasing 94-88 to advance to the championship series in Group B division.
Saudia Aviation was steady in its offensive plays as ALJ Central Purchasing applied trapping defense in the final quarter. Dexter Flora dominated the shaded area and scored 32 points for Saudia Aviation and was adjudged as the JBL best player of the game while MJ dela Cruz top-scored with 31 points for ALJ Central Purchasing.
