Salman triumphs in Zahid squash tourney

Abdul Rehman bin Salman put on a sterling performance to win the Zahid Open Squash Tournament organized by Shahid Khan at the King Fahad Coastal City recently.
In a thrilling final, Salman edged past Essam Al-Khateem 11-8, 9-11, 7-11, 11-6, 11-8 to be crowned champion.
Both the finalists displayed an array of shots, quick returns and a series of interesting rallies during which the players gave nothing away.
In the first semifinal, Salman stunned top seed Hamid Zafar 11-6, 11-8, 9-11, 11-5.
In the other semifinal, which saw some long rallies Essam Al-Khateeb overcame Zuhair Al-Mosa 11-8, 11-9,7-11, 11-7.
Over 31players participated in this tourney, which was held from during the first four days of this month.
During the prize distribution ceremony, Khan thanked the sponsors Zahid, for their continuous support in promoting squash among the youth of Jeddah. He also expressed hope that continued squash action over the next few months will keep game lovers enthusiastic and passionate for this great sport.
