The final round of Prince Sultan bin Salman’s 17th Qur’an memorization contest for children with special needs is being organized in Madinah today. The event is organized under the aegis of the President of the Saudi Commission for Tourism and Antiquities (SCTA) Prince Sultan bin Salman and Madinah Gov. Prince Faisal bin Salman.
Abdul Aziz Al-Sabeihin, secretary-general of the Qur’an memorization contest, said the event has received immense attention from schools, various rehabilitation centers and Qur’an memorization societies across the Kingdom.
Al-Sabeihin appreciated the efforts of the male and female members of the jury panel who offered their services free and played a vital role in the contest’s success.
Jury members include eminent scholars and memorizers of the Holy Qur’an such as Sharif Abubakr, Othman Al-Homeidi, Amal Al-Ghonaim and Samihah bint Ali Shaddi.
The final competition will take place at the Prince Sultan Center for Disabled Children in Madinah with the participation of 60 representatives from across institutions in the Kingdom and Gulf countries.
Parents of the participating children commended the efforts of the society in organizing the event and stressed the importance of exposing children with special needs to such competitions that serve to highlight their skills and talents.
Princess Lulu bint Ahmed Al-Sudairy will be the patron of the girls’ contest, which will take place Tuesday.
