Kanoo Freight crowned inter-division champions

Kanoo Freight got the better of Kanoo Travels by 7 wickets in a nail biting final of the Kanoo inter-division cricket tournament held here.
Winning the toss and electing to bat first, Kanoo Travels started badly and lost wickets at regular intervals. At one stage they lost half the side with just 30 runs on the board. It was left to the inform Shakir who steadied the rocking boat with a well-made 48. He along with Fahmi (13) and Manoj (14 not out) gave their team an outside chance with a score of 117 for 8 from the allotted overs.
Inham bowled well for Kanoo Freight and took 3 for 19 while Ranjith took 2 for 10 runs. Vasant, Qadir and Bashir shared three wickets. Chasing a moderate target, Kanoo Freight started well with their opening pair of Abdul Qadir and Inham putting on 51 runs for the first wicket.
After the fall of Inham’s wicket, Sadiqullah joined Qadir and took the score to 95. At this juncture, Qadir trying to accelerate the scoring threw away his wicket after scoring 46 runs. Soon after Sadiqulla was scalped by Kanoo Travels skipper Syed Zakiuddin for 32.
Needing 8 runs off 12 balls, Nickson and Vasanth had their anxious moments at the crease before getting past Travels score in the last over with one ball to spare. For Travels Riju, Shakir and Syed Zakiuddin took a wicket each.
