Fateh’s historic feat

History was made last Sunday. Fateh, the team promoted to the Saudi Premier League only a few years ago, made the impossible possible.
It’s now official: Fateh is the league champion with still two rounds to play and despite the efforts of Hilal to catch them.
Fateh won the championship by taking advantage of the poor performances by the bigger teams and it has worked silently without much fuss with the media.
Some pessimists are predicting that Fateh got lucky and can only hold on to its title for a good year. Right or wrong, what we see is a team that has now gained the respect of people, a good management, a very impressive coach, all equals to a perfect and organized set of fine players who made it to the top.
No one can argue with that and no one can ruin their parade. Winning the league is not easy. Teams like Ahli and Nassr failed for decades. And out of the First Division league, Fateh joined the Premier League. In a couple of years, they emerged as champions. Hats off to Fateh!
Being a champion will obviously bear more pressure but the good thing with a first timer like Fateh is knowing that this victory will motivate them in continuing to prove themselves. Big teams like Hilal, Ittihad, Shabab and Ahli, all with a good history of winning, have a tendency of being overconfident and complacent. I suppose it can be said that this is the case in this league. While Fateh's detractors are claiming that winning the championship was a one-off thing, I think otherwise. I believe that Fateh will not give up this title quite easily. They will not give up without a good fight. So, to those who will try, good luck to you and congratulations to Fateh.
