GE showcased a wide range of employment opportunities for Saudi women across different business sectors and held specialized training workshops to boost the skills of students and professionals at the career fair, A Step Ahead.
The event, organized by Glowork in Riyadh, was held with the support of Labor Minister Adel F. Fakeih.
More than 8,000 Saudi female students, young graduates and professionals attended the two-day event.
GE conducted more than 13 workshops aimed at imparting professional knowledge, career guidance and skills development for the Saudi women at the fair.
The subjects covered in the workshops, led by GE’s senior managers, included aspects of building professional network, success in finance, career navigation, women in health care, personal branding, social media and others.
Hisham Al Bahkali, GE’s president and CEO for Saudi Arabia and Bahrain, said: “GE is underlining its commitment to Saudi human capital development through our partnership as ‘Saudi talent partner’ at the career fair.”
The CEO said: “We are committed to creating and nurturing Saudi professionals, especially women, across various aspects of our business, in line with our strategy to double the female workforce in the Kingdom over the next three years.”
He said: “A Step Ahead is indeed a remarkable starting point for Saudi women students and professionals to further strengthen their career prospects and on-the-job progression.”
On the opening day, Mazin Albahkali, GE’s executive manager, power generation for Saudi Arabia, addressed the participants on ‘A Step for the Future,’ detailing the challenges and opportunities for women employees in modern careers.
Dalya AlMuthanna, director — global growth strategy of GE Power & Water, addressed the participants, sharing with them various aspects of women leadership, mentorship and how to build effective networks that help drive professional growth.
