LONDON: Two British teachers are traveling the world in a tuk tuk to promote education. Nick Gough and Richard Sears began their journey in London last August, and have since driven around the UK and through Europe and visited Africa. The pair's aim is to raise money for "inspirational educational projects around the world", according to their website.
So far, Gough and Sears have travelled 17,200 miles on their expedition, suffering one flat tyre near Paris and a snapped accelerator cable in southern Africa. They have also faced several dangers, having nearly being charged twice by an elephant and driving more than a thousand miles on muddy, rocky tracks in Kenya and Tanzania.
Joanna Lumley has championed the challenge, stating: "Inspired lunacy with a heart of gold and the mind of Aristotle — I'm behind Tuk Tuk Travels all the way." Gough and Sears are currently in Mumbai, India and will continue through Asia before heading to the Americas.
