A gang of three Saudis and four expatriates, including an Asian woman, was arrested by the Riyadh police for burglary. The foreigners included a Syrian, two Indians and an Indonesian woman, the police said.
Riyadh police identified some suspects of the burglaries and kept a vigil on their movements. The police took note of different vehicles used by the burglars and conformed that a specific group was behind such crimes.
The gang was involved in stealing cash, electronic items and gold jewelry. The suspects confessed to their thefts in several areas of the capital. Police are conducting further investigation to find out if more people are involved in theft cases. On completion of inquiry, the suspects will be produced before a court.
Separately, Malaz police arrested three Saudi youths for snatching handbags from women on the street. The arrest was made on a complaint made by a Saudi man, whose wife’s handbag was snatched by the youths near a shopping area in Malaz district.
The woman had SR 20,000 in cash, a smart phone and other valuables worth some SR 3,000. After snatching the woman’s bag, the gang had fled in a car.
