All innovative projects submitted by King Fahd University of Petroleum and Minerals (KFUPM) at the International Exhibition of Inventions in Geneva won prizes in different categories.
The university also reaped the International Federation of Inventors Association and Industry and Technology Support Office awards, a local newspaper reported.
Ten innovative projects submitted by the university earned international medals and awards at the 41st session of the exhibition — the largest pool for inventions in the world.
The exhibition focuses on the economic and commercial aspects of inventions, attracting more than 75,000 investors, inventors and other interested parties.
Samir Bayat, supervisor of the transfer of technology, innovation and entrepreneurship project at KFUPM, said in a statement that the institute aims to demonstrate its capabilities and innovative abilities on the world stage.
“Participating in international competitions boosts and enhances our innovators’ spirit of competitiveness,” he said.
“The university encourages and provides all the possible means to support students to compete locally and internationally,” said Eyad Al-Zaharneh, director of the innovation center at KFUPM. Al-Zaharneh added that their projects were selected according to defined and specific standards, with the cooperation of international experts.
