During the recent conference in Alkhobar, Al-Husseini from Riyadh won the international speech contest and honor to represent Saudi Arabia in the international arena.
On the sidelines of the Saudi Arabian Toastmasters’ Annual Conference, a meeting of the district council was held in addition to elections of new district officers.
Saif Ali Shaikh is elected as the next district governor, Joey Villanueva as LGET and Abdullah Al-Sharief as LGM. “They take office effective July 1, 2013 to June 30, 2014,” said the current District Gov. Natheer Al-Qasem.
First District Gov. Khaled Al-Matlagaitu, along with the current LGET Ben Guerra and LGM Joey Villanueva, were present through the entire conference and helped in organizing the conference. Division Gov. Mohammed Al-Khalfan announced the results of the international speech competitions.
Vice Chair TM Abdulaziz Al-Sharekh stressed the need for such a conference and the rationale for its continued existence. A printed magazine was released on the occasion and an announcement of the blog site made from which the contents of the magazine were extracted.
District Gov. Natheer Al-Qasem said the conference had many firsts, including the use of the latest gadgetry to elect governing members and the use of a reusable backdrop.
“We have, for the first time, close to 600 attendees who enjoyed a program with very informative workshops and outstanding speakers. We have also streamlined the entire event and it will soon be available for download free for those who missed the opportunity to attend the live performance. We have the first executive committee approving a second district conference to be held in November during 1st District Council meeting. The date and venue for the meeting will be decided shortly,” he said.
