The Shoura Council will discuss on Sunday a draft bill on an insurance scheme for workers who lose their jobs.
The bill is based on a report of the council’s human resources and administration committee and has 31 clauses.
The proposed legislation provides insurance for Saudis who lose their jobs because of reasons beyond their control. It stipulates a minimum income for eligibility. It also provides for training to get a new job, the Saudi Press Agency reported yesterday.
The weekly meeting of the council is also scheduled to listen to the views of the housing, water and public services committee on the annual report of the Grain Silos and Flour Mills Organization for the year 2011 and the financial affairs committee’s view on the annual report of the Customs Department for 2011.
The council will also discuss the annual report of the Central Department of Statistics and Information and amendments to some clauses in traffic regulations.
In its next session on Monday, the council will discuss the National Strategy for Youth prepared by the Committee for Social, Family and Youth Affairs. The strategy stresses important aspects such as education and training, work, health, culture and information, telecommunication and information technology, recreation and leisure time for the youth. The report was prepared after 40 workshops in 23 cities and governorates with the participation of 1,200 youth.
