Zimmerman struck out four and threw 91 pitches in improving to 3-0 with a 1.36 ERA against the Reds.
Homer Bailey (1-2) was the tough-luck loser, giving up the lone run and five hits in seven innings. He struck out six and did not walk a batter.

Kendrick (2-1) allowed one walk while striking out five for his third career complete game.
Michael Young added three hits and an RBI while Howard recorded his second homer in three days for Philadelphia.
Mets starter Dillon Gee (1-4) allowed four runs and seven hits over six innings, losing for the second time to Philadelphia this season.
New York has scored two runs or fewer in four of its last five games and was shut out for the first time this season.
Cubs 4 Marlins 2: Anthony Rizzo hit a pair of two-run homers in support of right-hander Scott Feldman and visiting Chicago won two in a row for the first time this season.
Rizzo, who came in hitting .173, hit the first pitch he saw from Miami starter Wade LeBlanc (0-4) over the center-field fence for a 2-0 lead.
He added another two-run bomb in the third and later singled in the eighth.
Feldman (1-3) ended a personal eight-game losing streak and made his longest start since Aug. 4, allowing two runs and seven hits in 6 2/3 innings.
Cardinals 9 Pirates 1: Lance Lynn allowed one run in seven innings and Carlos Beltran homered twice as host St. Louis won its fourth straight.
Lynn (4-0) let up two hits and struck out nine to win his ninth straight decision dating back to September.
Beltran had a solo shot in the bottom of the first and a two-run blast in the fifth that made it 5-0 and gave him five home runs in his last eight games.
Padres 2 Giants 1: Andrew Cashner tossed six strong innings and host San Diego won the opener of the three-game series.
Trailing 1-0, the Padres pulled ahead in the third with two runs on two-out RBI singles by Carlos Quentin and Yonder Alonso off Tim Lincecum (2-1), who allowed two runs while striking out a season-high nine over seven innings.
The Padres fell behind early when Angel Pagan scored on a wild pitch in the first, but Cashner (1-1) settled in and allowed one run on five hits with five strikeouts.
Rockies 6 Diamondbacks 3: Troy Tulowitzki delivered a go-ahead three-run double in the fifth inning and Wilin Rosario homered as visiting Colorado evened the four-game series.
