The 23rd International Book Fair Abu Dhabi drew a large crowd from the Kingdom. Many visited the Saudi pavilion, which participated with a large number of books and traditional and cultural exhibitions. These included the photo exhibition “Two Holy Mosques” and a cultural dance, performed by the Saudi dance group “Men’s brightest.”
Saleh Hamad Al-Suhaibani, Saudi cultural attaché in the UAE, said the Saudi pavilion with 23 organizations and different activities brought a message of love, peace, culture and heritage.
“Especially the photo exhibition drew the attention of many people. I will never forget one child in particular, that kissed the photo of Kaaba many times,” he explained.
The pavilion offered a special section to Saudi publishers, a collection of children’s books, cultural and traditional books, a play corner about reading, a quiz competition and information about famous intellectuals. Additionally, writers came to discuss Arab books.
“The traditional dance, showcasing our nation’s culture and traditions was another hit. It highlighted the country’s legacy of culture and civilization,” he added.
The 23rd Abu Dhabi International Book Fair (ADIBF) was inaugurated by Sheikh Sultan bin Zayed on Wednesday in Abu Dhabi.
Susan Eskander, supervisor of the photo exhibition and famous Saudi photographer said the 65 images drew the attention of visitors to the role of the Saudi government in the architecture of the renovation of the sites of the Two Holy Mosques in Makkah and Madinah.
She further said the attention from the Saudi Embassy in the UAE and the Saudi Cultural Attaché in Abu Dhabi made it easier to handle such a big responsibility.
Visitors of different nationalities and religions received a brochure with images of the Two Holy Mosques.
