A huge fire broke out at the Al-Faisaliah branch of the Panda hypermarket yesterday, one of largest Panda stores in Jeddah.
The fire was caused by an electrical short-circuit. There were no reports of fatalities or injury, according to Panda workers.
The Panda administration asked its clients to vacate the premises as Civil Defense personnel worked to contain the fire. Brig. Turki Al-Harthi, director of Civil Defense in Jeddah, told Arab News: “We are investigating the cause of the fire. In the meantime, Civil Defense forces have effectively dealt with the incident.”
The fire started at 6 p.m., causing heavy smoke. “Thankfully, there weren’t a lot of customers around at the time,” an eyewitness said.
