Saudi Electricity awards SR 1.38 bn contracts

Saudi Electricity Co. (SEC) awarded three contracts worth SR 1.38 billion to set up two power transformers and buy five units of gas generators.
The transformers will be installed in Salboukh in north Riyadh and in Al-Kharj, says a company statement.
It said the two transformers would help SEC to cope with the increasing demand for power in northern Riyadh and in Al-Kharj.
The new measures would also ease the burden on current grids, improving the efficiency of power distrubution systems.
These projects will be completed in 29 months.
The generating units will be of 55 MW and 70 MW capacity.
They will be set up at the Qurayyat, Rafha and Arar. This process will be completed in 13 months, according to the SEC statement.
