Makkah Mayor, Osama bin Fadl Al-Bar, recently said that the holy city’s municipality has suspended 300 project permits granted to the Saudi Electricity Company (SEC).
Al-Bar said that the contractor had failed to implement the municipality’s requests when performing the excavation work in the city’s streets. The mayor emphasized the importance of coordination among service sectors, which are tasked with implementing the city’s projects in order to deliver services in an effective manner.
“The main objective is not to excavate the same location repeatedly, as that is a waste of resources, time, and manpower,” he added.
He also indicated that the process of conferring names and numbers to the streets is in its final stages.
The mayor also highlighted that the municipality has a number of vacant plots that it intends to utilize toward the establishment of projects that benefit citizens.
“The secretariat intends to establish a website, which will connect the sub-municipalities and departments together,” he confirmed.
The website will also feature a feedback section in which citizens can provide their comments and complaints about the quality of the services rendered by the municipality.
