The “Daredevil” Dela Paz lived up to his moniker as he helped Butler score its first victory against Sleep High 75-72 while UCIC and Finetool both recorded consecutive victories at the weekend in 2013 Perfetto Basketball Tournament organized by Industrial Sports Association (ISA) at Industrial City Dawa Office (ICDO) court in Industrial City Phase I on the outskirts of Jeddah.
After winning their first game, star player Jeff Regondola and the rest of Sleep High bowed to Butler’s Dela Paz who sank big and important buckets with his daredevil moves late in the fourth quarter to lift his team over powerhouse Sleep High.
Dela Paz finished the night with 19 points including 5 with a minute to play to become the best player of the game.
The double G twin tower combination of Guanzon and Greason supported Dela Paz with a combined 33 points while Apostol added 13 points for Butler.
After winning two straight, Hidada suffered consecutive losses because of the balanced scoring of UCIC players.
With a tremendous defense UCIC was in full control in the first half against but it was Cudal who shone brightest in offense in the second half as UCIC won by 84-69.
Cudal was named best player of the game with 20 points including 16 in the second half. Nemenzo contributed 17 points, Dulla had 15 and Cabrera added 12 points to give UCIC back-to-back victories in the tournament.
Canonigo’s unstoppable game powered Finetool to a comprehensive 70-53 triumph over Bakemate. With a 20-point performance Canonigo was adjudged best player of the game.
Canonigo was scoreless in the first quarter but then hit his stride in the next three quarters to give Finetool big advantage over Bakemate.
