STC records 531% rise  in FTTH customers

Saudi Telecom Company (STC) hit a new record in the number of FTTH (Fiber-to-the-Home) customers with an increase of 531 percent during the first quarter 2013. This marks an increase of 35 percent as compared to the last quarter of 2012.
The company believes that investments in telecommunication services stems are aimed at delivering high-speed, quality data services of up to 200 Mbps that enable customers to benefit from integrated telecom services’ solutions at the lowest cost.
STC upholds its commitment to offer the latest technical solutions by focusing on modern infrastructure and solutions like FTTH network. The demand of broadband services has increased significantly in recent times compared to last years, especially after the strong governmental support for the high technology projects that require a sound digital structure.
This becomes all the more important after the move is made to e-government transactions in most of the government procedures
In this respect, STC is marching forward as the leader of the new era of broadband by deploying the biggest fiber network in the Gulf region.
This will result in more than half a million households connected with FTTH technology, and at the offset it attracted more than 100,000 customer in the Kingdom alone.
STC has signed a number of contracts and agreements to build and develop the fiber infrastructure for hyper developmental projects in different places in the Kingdom, which support STC’s direction to promote its advanced services, innovative ideas based on quality, speed and ideal customer service.
