One man was killed in an accident caused by a gas leak in Saudi Aramco’s refinery in Jeddah, the company said yesterday.
Aramco offered condolences to the victim’s family.
“During a periodic preventive maintenance exercise, a limited gas leakage occurred at the Jeddah refinery which resulted in the death of one person,” a statement issued by the company said yesterday.
It said the leakage was immediately stopped and the accident did not affect the company’s operations. It addd that an investigation is underway to determine the cause of the leakage.
Traders said the refinery had been closed down for maintenance since mid-April and was scheduled to come back online on May 20, an agency report said.
