All charities to acquire 2,500 sq. meters of land

The Council of Ministers has decided to grant 2,500 sq. meters of land to all charitable societies in the Kingdom.
“The council approved an amendment to the statutes governing grants to charitable societies so that each charitable foundation in the Kingdom is granted land of not more than 2,500 sq. meters,” Minister of Culture and Information Abdul Aziz Khoja said in a statement following the weekly meeting of the Council of Ministers at the Salam Palace in Jeddah yesterday.
The council was chaired by Crown Prince Salman, deputy premier and minister of defense.
The Cabinet also authorized the minister of interior to discuss and sign a draft agreement with the Republic of Albania on cooperation in combating crime.
The Cabinet also authorized the minister of foreign affairs to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with the United Nations Office for the Coordination of Humanitarian Affairs.
The Cabinet decided to authorize the minister of water and electricity to discuss and sign a draft memorandum of understanding with Morocco for cooperation in the field of exchange of expertise in water, desalination and treatment.
The council commended the king’s directives to assess damages caused by the recent rains in many places with the aim of compensating victims and paying one month's salary to civil defense officers.
The Cabinet discussed the signing of an agreement to encourage and protect mutual investments between the Kingdom and Japan, signed during the visit of Japanese Prime Minister Shinzo Abe last week. The Cabinet expressed satisfaction at the remarkable progress in bilateral relations with Japan in various fields.
