The Ministry of Education (MoE) is considering the issuance of “education vouchers,” which will enable Saudi students at public schools to transfer to private schools, a local newspaper reported.
The transfer process will be carried out according to defined mechanisms and control to ease the burden of public schools, familiar sources said, adding that such is a move that will represent the gradual transition toward the privatization of the education system.
Each voucher will be worth between SR 15,000 and SR 30,000.
The ministry held several workshops to discuss the proposed system with the participation of education experts in the public and private sectors.
