Kabayan Food served up another Team of the Week award-winning performance with the lead to boot in the Sarawat Thursday Bowling League 9th Season at the Sultanah Center’s Bowling City here.
It was the second team award for Kabayan which in addition to taking over No. 1 also completed a double courtesy of its Saudi bowler Mohammed Amri who rolled the high series of 665 on lines of 231, 181, 226 to become the Bowler of the Week.
The accolade did not come easy for Kabayan which had to fight off the challenge of Boleros before eventually winning 25 to 24 points.
Thumbs-up Reload was third on the night with 21 points followed by Habagat on 19. D’ Barkads pooled 17 points and, as a result, lost the top ranking by the skin of their teeth. Also on 17 was the OFBC of Joel Nidoy with Bowling City on 15 and Escalera on 6.
The tournament that meets up Thursday nights enjoys the support of Arabian Store Co. Ltd. (Sarawat Superstore) as the major sponsor. The Sarawat sponsorship through Arabian Store Vice President Aubrey Viljoen is the store’s way of giving back the strong patronage it enjoys from the Filipino community as it marks its 33rd year anniversary.
Kabayan got its break in the race for honors after Boleros, winner of the first two games, collapsed in the third and last game to wind up eighth and last with Kabayan the game winner. Though Kabayan had the top overall output its seventh-place finish in Game 2 prevented it from decisively taking the honors.
Besides Amri it was Paolo Allego that bowled hardest at Kabayan with 646 to go with the 527 by Rolly Vistal, 205-193 by Igna Salgado, 193-178 by Eidris Mangoda and 143-149 by Joel Alegre.
At Boleros Bonnnie Garcia and Jess Cerbito rolled the top series of 632 and 605, while Ed Labuac added 587, Cesar Monares 565, Jack Jarin 179-139 and Nanding Siasoco 166.
Thumbs-up had Rudy Valenzuela and Kaleem Salim at the helm on 584, 581 with Sol Cuenca on 555. The fourth player with complete games, Jay Bengco, added 539 while the remaining three games were shared by Ernie Geslani 229-175 and Rene Punzalan 186.
