LAHORE, Pakistan: Saudi Ambassador to Pakistan Abdulaziz bin Ibrahim Al-Ghadeer has met with Nawaz Sharif, Pakistan's former prime minister, to congratulate him on his party's victory in the South Asian nation's general elections on May 11.
On Tuesday, figures released by the country’s election commission showed that Sharif’s Pakistan Muslim League-N party will likely get a majority in the national assembly, setting him up to be prime minister for the third time.
In their meeting at the former prime minister's residence in Lahore, the capital of Punjab province, the ambassador wished Sharif and the Pakistani people further progress and prosperity and "expressed the hope that the bilateral relations between the Saudi Arabia and Pakistan will witness continual progress and prosperity during the next phase."
Sharif thanked the ambassador and asked him to convey his greetings to the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Abdullah bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, and the leadership of the Kingdom, stressing that Pakistan attaches great importance to its relations with the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
