The Ministry of Labor designated 11 locations that can consider requests in order to accelerate the process of rectifying the status of foreign laborers in the Eastern Province.
“The branch harnessed all capabilities to help those who want to rectify their status and complete the procedures as soon as possible,” said Muhammad Al-Manna, director of the ministry’s branch in the Eastern Province. The branch and all affiliated locations are to work two shifts a day, from 8 a.m. till 2 p.m., and from 4 till 9 p.m.
He expected that procedures of more than 2,000 foreign workers would be completed on time, either by transferring sponsorships or by changing occupations. “Bangladeshi workers are the bulk of applicants to rectify their status,” he said.
All violators who apply for the rectifying process are spared fines and sanctions. Rectification can be done by returning to their sponsors or transfering to new employers in the green or platinum ranges of Nitaqat.
