INDIANA: A waitress has received a $ 446 tip, despite the patron’s bill coming to just $ 5.91. CeCe Bruce — a server at a Steak ‘n Shake branch in Indianapolis, Indiana — was left the large tip by a regular customer known as Miss Jo. Miss Jo did not give a reason for her generosity but insisted that Bruce accept the money.
Bruce told WTHR: “At first I thought, ‘$ 46?’ And I said, ‘Miss Jo, that’s really generous!’ “When I looked again, I said ‘Oh my gosh Miss Jo, I’m not taking that!’ And she said, ‘Yes, you’re taking it’ and I said no and she said ‘You need to take it’.” The benefactor had apparently seen Bruce having a “hard time” with another table before leaving the tip and did not want any thanks for the kind gesture. “She’s a really sweet lady and she didn’t want any gracious gratitude.
She signed the receipt and walked out the door,” explained Bruce. “Miss Jo, I love you and thank you very much!“
