Two people on the wanted list were killed in a shooting spree on Monday in the Eastern Province, Lt. Col. Zeyad Al-Riqeiti, spokesman for the Eastern Province police department, said.
Al-Riqeiti said that at 11 p.m. on Monday, police succeeded in following the two suspects, who had fled after committing several crimes.
The two suspects were accused of shooting a citizen in the Al-Aflaj governorate in Riyadh, committing theft as well as threatening a truck driver and stealing his truck. The culprits were also involved in a shootout with police officers in Riyadh and the Eastern Province. A manhunt ensued and the police were able to trace them in the Samoda district near Hafr Al-Baten.
Al-Riqeiti revealed that the two suspects resisted arrested and opened fire. In the resultant shootout one of the suspects died. His injured accomplice was transferred to hospital, but died there Tuesday morning.
The police found rifles, pistols, two automatic weapons and bullets in the stolen truck.
