Taurus RDLR became only the seventh different team to clinch honors during the 17th week of the FTBJ-ICBL 31st Conference bowling tournament at Jeddah Lanes here.
Delivering a solid performance, Taurus pooled 46 points and romped off with a Team of the Week and Bowler of the Week double courtesy of Jimmy Urbano.
Sky Freight-TFC, whose 47 points in a tie with Oryx Jets still stood as the total to beat entering the homestretch of the tournament, collected 40.5 points in second place on the day.
Jem Strikers carded 38.5 followed by D’ Barkads 35 and Oryx Jets 28.
Pin Slashers and Oriana Akiera Sato tied on 24.5 points with Nasser Al Hajri on 23 and Hidada on 22. Lance & 3rdy 13 and Avengers 8.5 brought up the rear.
The ladies Bowler of the Week award went to Matet Cavite who fired 624 on games of 216, 168 and 183.
Taurus bowled so strong it could have been the first team to reach perfect 48 if not for missing the first-place points of 12 in the second game where it came third behind Sky Freight and D’ Barkads.
And it was Urbano that typified the quality of Taurus game as he shot the high series of 658 on lines of 182, 231 and 218.
Susan Patayan and Patima Jintarat rolled complete games of 591 and 551 to back up Urbano while Nap Patayan contributed two valuable games of 245-227. Also with two games each were Priz Calidro 170-188 and Nestor Casalma 168-175.
The duo of Goying Salazar and Yolly Santos fired 632 and 611 at the helm of Sky Freight, which also received 528 from Grace Dasas, 163-214 from Rene Santiago, 216-170 from Rod Morales and 145-181 from James Galvan.
Jem Strikers had the second highest scorer in Pancho Cuevas who carded 654 on games of 255, 201 and 180. Jess Pineda supported Cuevas with 593 while from the distaff side Jessica Fuentes and Che Bautista tallied 532 and 512. A good single game score of 198 from Jeff San Pedro and 178-213 from Efren San Pedro rounded out the Jem scoring.
Over at D’ Barkads Jack Jarin showed the way on 631 with Thess Grandia on 561, Dan Ednave 552, Cheryl Tibay 549, Rey Beltran 177-180 and Rally Zamora 198.
Jeannete Cerbito had to divide her time on the lanes and the basketball court, where she guested as one of the performers during the launch of the FBA 34th seson, in a hectic Friday afternoon schedule but suprisingly still grabbed scoring honors at Oryx Jets with 557. Edu Toledo and Marie Gumpal scored 546 and 490, while Majid Aslani tossed in 216-202, Igna Salgado 189-231 and Nick Gozun 151-188.
