Fedz-Cool Guys steal show in OFBC Friday Afternoon League opener

For the growing OFBC (Overseas Filipino Bowlers Club) the whole day-long fun started at the Ice Land Bowling Center with the opening last Friday of the 3 + 1 Friday Afternoon League 2nd Season.
The top two teams from the First Season joined forces to compete as one team and, not surprisingly, was first off the block in the competition.
Fedz-Cool Guys, who were first runner-up and champion while then carrying the banner of Fed & AAA and Cool Guys, returned the top tally of 26 points after winning their match against Pairs and Spares by shutout 20-0 on total pinfalls of 1,784-1,639 and rank points of 6 and 2.
Jandel’s Pride Reinforced was the bye team in action, claiming automatic 20 match points with its total pinfalls of 1,763 giving it 4 rank points for a first week total win points of 24.
The Youngsters Revival of Jerry “Ka Imo” Carredo brought down Red Dragons 14-6 (1,826-1,694 8-3) and in the process produced the first individual awardees in Vic Gonzales and Carms Lim. The Youngsters finished on 22 total win points and Red Dragons on 9.
Gonzales fired the high series of 648 to become the men’s Bowler of the Week on lines of 176, 203 and 173 while Lim outbowled everyone else on the ladies division with a three-game series of 611 on games of 153, 169 and 127.
Versatile Guys 3D defeated Rudy Jamon’s RJ Transient Houses 12-8 (1,786-1,772 7-5) in the other match. Versatile Guys totaled 19 points on the day while RJ had 13.
Salic Mudag rolled 619 to be at the forefront of a fluent Fedz-Cool attack in which Jun De Dios, the winning captain of the last tournament, compiled 185-165 to go with the 174-170 by Med Ramos and 169-158 by Robert De Guzman. De Dios and Khalid Bustinera share captaincy of the team.
The duo of Akang Victorino and Conrad Baltazar paced Pairs on 562 and 550.
Bowling pressure-free, Jandel’s Pride of Vovstone had Jana Felesmina as the only player to compete three games on 470. Usman Guzman tossed in 199-167, Puri Parena posted 168-135 and Farida De Guzman tallied 117-168.
Counting the Gonzales-Carms contributionYoungsters actually picked a single set of three players for their team score with Toto Lim on 567.
Joel Alegre was the only other bowler to cross 600 when he fired 632 in charge of Versatile Guys. He had games of 176,193 and 167. Team captain Tirso Bambalan added 571 while Voi Ycong made 156-174 and Danny Atubang 173.
