Saudi student Reem Ibrahim won second prize in Train of Knowledge, a contest among Arab schools.
The Dubai-based School of Research Science organized the contest and brought students together from across the Arab world to compete.
From 10 Arab countries 15,000 students of 500 different schools participated in the contest.
Reem Ibrahim of Al-Hamra Girls’ School Madinah made us proud by scoring second position, said Saleh Hamad Al-Suhaibani, Saudi cultural attaché in the UAE. The students were asked to read and discuss topics featured in 100 books that were introduced in five phases.
Ibrahim was honored with other winners in a symposium at Dubai Culture and Science Center.
Al-Suhaibani stressed on the importance of science and knowledge as a cornerstone of the nation.
“This is a new achievement of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia among other Arab countries, competition of the knowledge of train is very important in scientific research and knowledge in the Arab world,” he said.
The Train of Knowledge contest has been organized yearly in the UAE since 1998. This year, Lebanese student Alaa Al-Khodary, who attends the Iman School, won the contest.
The Sidon School Network, the Hariri Foundation for Sustainable Development and the UAE Ministry of Education awarded the winners in the presence of members of the diplomatic corps and educational authorities from different countries.
“Today, we require honesty and responsibility in order to build confidence in ourselves and with our surroundings. This contest was a great platform to enhance the knowledge of students, and was a great incentive to renew the work and hope to build the future,” said Bahia Hariri, the wife of the UAE minister of education.
She said the Train of Knowledge would also visit other Arab countries in the future as an event on scientific research, unlocking a creative potential in the students.
