Reception held for Taiwan president’s inauguration

About 60 Saudi officials, businessmen, guests and members of the Taiwanese community recently attended a reception marking the May 20 inauguration of Taiwanese President Ma Ying-jeou’s second term.
“I thank our valued Saudi guests and other visitors for gracing this reception to celebrate the anniversary of President Ma Ying-jeou’s second term,” said Jinn Jong Lin, representative of the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office (TECO) in the Kingdom’s capital.
He congratulated the “Taiwanese community for having always been on hand when there’s an event that involves them.”
He also outlined the existing excellent ties between Taiwan and Saudi Arabia, which not only enjoy good bilateral trade but also include collaboration in various fields such as agriculture.
He also cited achievements under President Ma, who has devoted himself to improving the economic situation in Taiwan and its willingness to participate in the activities and projects of international organizations such as the International Civil Aviation Organization (ICAO), the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) and the World Health Organization (WHO).
Earlier, the Taipei Economic and Cultural Office also held a food festival attended by some 400 guests, which also included Saudi officials and businessmen.
