Lessons must be drawn from the suicide of the IISD student last week and similar sad incidences in the recent past. This should come as a warning to the “competitive parents” to stop pressurizing their children too much. Naturally, children find it difficult to cope with an excessive pressure to excel in their studies.
They feel they will let their parents, schools and friends down if they don’t live up to their expectations. This leads to anxiety, depression and fear among students. Parents should be a source of support and not that of pressure! — Anwar H. Khan, Alkhobar
