The front-page stories “Merciless mercury make matters worse for illegals” and "Airport shocker for illegals” explain the pathetic conditions of illegal expats who are trying to get out of the Kingdom.
It seems that the miseries of these workers do not seem to end. They are waiting long hours in scorching heat in front of their respective embassies and consulates to get outpasses, then queuing up at the deportation center to get exit papers, and finally at the airport they are told they cannot fly out from that particular airport.
Since no-show leads to cancellation of nonrefundable air tickets, which are too expensive these days, these expatriates are finding it difficult to cope with the compounding challenges. I request the authorities in Saudi Arabia which is also known as “Kingdom of Humanity” to look into the plight of these illegals and do the needful to mitigate their sufferings as soon as possible. — Jazeel Farooq, Jeddah
