Only expatriates with residency permits issued in Dammam and Alkhobar will be allowed to record their biometric details at the Dammam deportation center, according to sources.
Expatriates whose iqamas were issued at Ras Tanura, Rahima and Afqake will also be able to record their biometrics at the center by providing full information including their iqama and passport numbers.
However, those from the industrial city of Jubail, Hassa and other cities have to record their biometrics in those cities. They will not be allowed to record their details in Dammam.
Thousands of expatriates with iqamas issued in other provinces, who have found work in the booming Eastern Province, are now forced to travel back to these regions. The situation is worse for those without valid iqamas.
The Dammam deportation center is handling on average 300 expatriates at two counters from 7:30 a.m. to 5 p.m. Sources say there is not enough staff to deal with the influx of expatriates.
Embassies of Bangladesh, India and Nepal embassies have sent their officials from Riyadh to assist their nationals in Dammam. Volunteers and social workers are also helping out.
