People with hearing disabilities will have special places for them in all mosques in city centers and governorates.
The move by the Ministry for Islamic Affairs, Call and Guidance aims at enabling people with such disabilities to benefit from the Friday sermon which will be explained to them in sign language in coordination with the Saudi Society for Hearing Disabilities.
Tawfiq Al-Sudeiri, a top ministry official, said this agreement would help spread religious awareness among those with hearing disabilities. The society will provide translators.
“All ministry branches in the Kingdom have been notified, and they should announce that they have places for those with hearing disabilities,” he said.
A memorandum signed this year aims to boost religious awareness among such individuals.
