Energy efficiency in home appliances to be modified

The National Energy Efficiency Program (NEEP) is developing a plan to modify energy efficiency in home appliances.
The meeting held by the administrative committee at the Saudi Center for Energy Efficiency, chaired by the President of King Abdul Aziz City for Science and Technology, discussed the work course of the program and it achievements, which included the application of modified standard specifications agreed upon earlier.
This included the prohibition of importing or manufacturing any air-conditioners that do not meet the new Saudi specifications concerning the minimum level of energy consumption.
The meeting recommended working with a number of laboratories specialized in energy-related infrastructural works before the decision takes effect in September.
The National Saudi Energy Efficiency Program targets three sectors involved in energy consumption in the Kingdom, namely construction and building, transportation and industry.
