We are pleased to hear that North and South Korea have agreed to hold a government-level meeting. This is the first high-level meeting since 2007. It is learned that there is a sense of cautious optimism in both capitals now that they are talking again. The Korean War (1950-1953) claimed millions of lives.
Those who really love peace should listen to both sides of the story without bias. The situation turns explosive, frequently with the West blindly accusing North Korea for everything while the fact is that South Korea is no saint either.
The frequent military exercises close to North Korea are nothing but a provocation, although North Korea’s response is faulted for highhandedness.
The permanent solution to this eternal bickering between North and South Korea is reunification. After all they are one nation and except for the two types of government there is no other rift. East and West Germany could do it so why not North and South Korea? — S.H. Moulana, Riyadh.
