Al-Jazeera Paints, Alsorayai sign deal for calcium carbonate production plant

Al-Jazeera Paints, described as the high quality paints industry giant in the Middle East and surrounding regions, and Alsorayai Commercial & Industrial Group, which works in the carpets, rugs, fabrics and furniture industry, signed a memorandum of understanding to establish a calcium carbonate manufacturing plant.
The agreement signed in Jeddah recently was based on the mutual interest of both parties in the possibility of establishing a high tech plant that will implement the highest international standards in the manufacture of calcium carbonate component and byproducts, to be based in Jeddah, as part of a limited liability company. The plant is expected to be executed in approximately 12-13 months and will commence operations in third quarter of 2014.
The memorandum was signed by Abdullah bin Saud Al-Romaih representing Al-Jazeera Paints and Saleh bin Naser Al-Sorayai representing Alsorayai Group.
Following the signing ceremony, Chairman of the Board of Directors of Alsorayai Group Abdel Aziz bin Naser Al-Sorayai said: “The discussion over the establishment of this kind of plant carries an important indication, especially in light of the development of the industrial sectors both locally and regionally.”
General Manager of Al-Jazeera paints Abdullah bin Saud Al-Romaih said: “The company engagement in such kind of projects comes as part of its strategic plan to invest in integrated industries. The calcium carbonate is used as a filler in a number of industries, including the manufacturing of plastic and paints, as a catalyst in the treatment of rubber, as an additive in manufacturing of paper in addition to its usage in medical, petrochemicals, insecticides and glass industries.”
Al-Jazeera Paints owns a number of companies that operate in different fields most of which are in the industrial and the building materials sectors.
