The IISJ election

As the parents go to polls today to elect new members of the managing committee of the International Indian School-Jeddah (IISJ), I, as a parent myself, would like to cast votes for those candidates who can address and solve the following genuine problems of our children:

1. Reschedule school time for Boy’s Section in line with the time schedule of other community schools in Riyadh and Dammam, which is 7 a.m. to 1:30 p.m. Start early and finish early. The children must get proper time to study as well as to play.
2. Hygienic washroom: Sanitation system should be converted into Western style, which is clean and convenient and the kids are generally used to in their daily life. It is surprising that hand wash soap is not available in washroom and kids are forced to either avoid using washroom or leave without proper washing hands which leads to sickness. The school must hire permanent cleaning staff to maintain proper hygiene of washrooms.
3. Water coolers are not clean, due to which children often suffer from throat infection and other water-borne diseases.
4. Air-conditioners should be serviced every semester. They must be in order, and are cleaned periodically (especially filter), to avoid diseases that are caused due to infection from dust.
5. The school should introduce electronic fee transfer facilities either by ATM or through online payment, which is in practice in Dammam and Riyadh schools for more than a decade.
6. Let us start a healthy hygienic environment for our children who often get sick because of improper hygienic conditions prevalent in our school. — Zaki Enam, Jeddah
