Pak XI Unaizah scored a thrilling one-run victory over Sialkot Stallions Buraidah in a nail-biting final to win the Alhamrani FUCHS Cup cricket tourney, Al Qassim Zone, organized by the Riyadh Cricket Association.
Stallions won the toss and decided to field. The decision seemed to have worked as Pak XI Unaizah were bowled out for 160. Khawar top-scored with 42 followed by Waqar 38 and Imran 17.
Ansar was the most successful bowler as he took four wickets including a hat trick. Stallions in reply failed to achieve their target and were all out for 159.
At one stage Stallions looked to be cruising to an easy win. However, that was not to be. After the dismissal of Mudassir (80) the rest of the batsmen failed to live up to expectations and collapsed under pressure.
Mubashir (22) and Asad (15) were the only other notable contributors. For Pak XI, Imran took 4 wickets while Aafaque, Waqar, Amir, Khawar and Mudassir grabbed a wicket each.
RCA’s Nadeem Babar and Kareem Khan, senior vice-president were the chief guests.
Zafar Tahseen, president, Romi, president and chairman of Al Qassim Zone thanked RCA for their support in promoting the game in the region.
Nadeem Babar and Kareem Khan reassured that RCA will continue to support Al Qassim Zone in the future and will provide opportunities to the players to participate in the national and international events.
Imran was declared Man-of-the-Final, Waqar Azam, Man-of-the-Tournament; Aafaque Masudi, Bowler-of-the-Tournament and Akram, Batsman-of-the Tournament.
