Powerhouse Zezo and flamboyant Rodel Maranca splashed their deadly forms to capture the Best Team and Best Bowler of the Week awards respectively in the 11th week of the Al-Rabie-Itqan Bowlers Group (IBG) Friday Afternoon Bowling League 3rd Conference at the Universal Bowling Center (UBC) here.
Al-Rabie sponsored the tournament under the aegis of IBG advocate Ian Choco. Also supporting the event is Nelson de Vera, Thales official.
Zezo, banking on the good games of Cas Encila, Fhel Ramos, Jojo Miraflor and hard-hitting Jess Ambon, trounced fancied Angel Vipers 24-10 on total pinfalls of 4,080 and 3,829.
Encila was at his best form to lead Zezo on four-game series handicap of 876 on lines of 226,244, 141 and 209. Ramos followed Encila on 848 series (202,254, 209 and 183). Miraflor and Ambon had 796 and 776, Boy Mirando added 590 and Ed Cruz 194.
Fastrising Leo Tolete shone in Angel Vipers by knocking down a series handicap of 807. James Boyd tallied 761, Edgar Badeo 752 and FBGR officer Angel Caasi 716. Dawood Sereno and Koko Torres had 428 and 366. Thales team, managed by FBGR Deputy Chairman for External Affairs, despite losing the game to Itqan Tornado 18-15 did not go home empty handed as its player Maranca romped off with the Best Bowler of the Week honors.
Maranca, a Class B1 player with 14 handicap per game, shot a towering 890 on games of 170, 205, 196 and 253. Besides Maranca the other scorers at Thales were Celis Viloria (784), Dennis Gabriel (752) and bankable Bembol Velasco (701). Ismail Viloria and Jobert Pomado scored 505 and 361.
Freddie Santiago and Ruben Babasa led Itqan Tornado by posting an identical 819s. FBGR Director for Tournament and Technical Affairs and IBG 2nd Conference perfect 300 achiever, Ric Urrutia, Jr., compiled 792 to follow the duo of Santiago and Babasa. Reynald Medina and Gigi “KC” Enriquez also supported Itqan Tornado by adding separate series of 790 and 738 points.
Dabarkads scored another astounding victory against Itqan Tenpin Wizards, 23-10. Obet Miranda, Dong Yamco and Glenmar “Juan” dela Cruz carried Dabarkads by scoring separate series of 874, 814 and 821. Charlie Cheng and Lito Alarcon contributed 787 and 629.
Posting the best score at Itqan was Jun Bantug on 823. Next to Bantug was Ric Singson 798 points while Choco added 776 points. Arnold Jesena, Doy del Moral, Thong Asuncion and Fareed Aquino chipped in 375, 365 and 295.
Other results: SACO beat Roll and Bowl 22-16, Super Bowl beat Magnificent-5 22-11, NBA beat Saudi-Oger 19-18 and My Girl beat ABB JeX 16-14.
