The Saudi Grain Silos and Flour Mill Organization has increased the allocated share of flour for each province by 10 percent ahead of the holy month of Ramadan, securing 3 million tons of flour in its warehouses.
Waleed El-Khereiji, the organization’s general director asserted that they have sufficient stocks to secure the needs of the market during Ramadan.
“Makkah’s market occupies the lion’s share of stocked flour due to the large number of pilgrims who stay in the holy city to perform Umrah,” he explained.
El-Khereiji, reassured Saudi consumers about the stability of the market, explaining that the organization works with local retailers and suppliers to ensure they have adequate flour, especially during Haj and Umrah seasons.
The general director said the state pays 75 percent of the actual price of a flour sack, which ensures the stability of prices against the rising demand.
